The route from Thiruvananthapuram (Trivandrum, Kerala, India) to Thenmala is rather direct. You take the Trivandrum Shencotta road to reach Thenmala.The road is somewhat well-maintained throughout the year. The journey will take about two hours.

If you want, you can have a stop at Ttropical Botanical Garden and Research Institute (TBGRI) at Palode or have a look at the old palace near Nedumangad. A detour to Ponmudi Tourist Resort or Bonaccord Tea Estate is possible from Chullimanoor. If you are a trekker and nature lover, a two day trek to Agastyamala could be considered from Bonaccord.
